Thriving Catholic Parishes (TCP)

Renewing parish communities by forming the people who lead them.
A thriving parish is more than a place people attend. It is a community where people belong, encounter, participate, lead, and live their faith together.
Thriving Catholic Parishes (TCP) is Fe y Vida's culturally responsive and theologically grounded process for parish renewal. TCP accompanies dioceses and parishes in developing the leadership of Latino adolescents, parents, young adults, and pastoral leaders so that together they can build vibrant, intergenerational communities of faith and mission.
From Confirmation to Mission
For too many young Catholics, Confirmation can feel like the end of their relationship with parish life. TCP works to change that story. Instead of "Confirmation is graduation," TCP helps parishes make Confirmation a launching point for belonging, discipleship, leadership, and mission.
Young people are not viewed simply as recipients of ministry or as the future of the Church. They are invited to recognize their gifts, discover their God-given vocation, and become protagonists in the life and mission of the Church today.
A Different Approach to Parish Renewal
We don't begin by asking, "What program should we offer?" We begin by asking, "Who are our people, and what are they experiencing?"
TCP helps parishes listen before they plan.
Pastors, parish leaders, parents, and post-Confirmation teens form a local leadership team and learn together. Using Fe y Vida's social-analysis process and digital tools, they explore the lived realities of young people and families across five dimensions. The results help parish communities move from assumptions about young people to pastoral decisions grounded in listening, evidence, relationships, and lived reality.
The TCP Journey
TCP is not a one-time workshop.
It is a formation and accompaniment process that helps parishes develop the capacity to listen, discern, plan, form leaders, and sustain ministry locally.
TCP connects pastoral planning with Catholic spirituality and the richness of Latino cultures and traditions. Two signature formation experiences help bring this vision to life:
RESPETO
A spiritual formation experience for adolescents centered on human dignity, Catholic identity, faith, and leadership.
HERENCIA
A parallel formation experience for parents that strengthens their role as primary faith educators, cultural transmitters, and partners in the faith journey of their children.
Prayer, Scripture, family rituals, leadership development, and Latino Catholic traditions are woven throughout the experience so that faith is not separated from culture or everyday life. The goal isn't dependence on Fe y Vida. It is a stronger thriving parish. Rather than bringing in experts for a workshop and leaving, Fe y Vida accompanies local leaders as they develop the knowledge, tools, confidence, and relationships needed to sustain ministry in their own communities.
TCP forms leaders who can form other leaders. As TCP grows, experienced leaders are equipped through a Train-the-Trainer model to accompany new leaders within their own parishes and dioceses, multiplying the program's impact and strengthening long-term sustainability.
